Cake Queen 8a - Aileen from Simply Cakes

Choccy Woccy Rocky Road Cake

Welcome to the Kingdom of Simply Cakes. Queen Aileen here to tell you the story of

how she came about to create her "stacks"!

Once upon another busy day in cake land where life was it usual hectic self, Queen

Aileen was wondering if she could possibly spend some time out in the beautiful

summer sunshine. ‘Ping’ went her magic black box, a message from Queen Niamh,

who lives in a far off land… Dublin. ‘Would you like to be part of a group of cake

makers working on a project for the ‘Edible Art Culture Night’? After thinking about

this for all of a fairy second, her answer was of course ‘yes, she would be delighted to!’

And so started the Choccy Woccy Rocky Road Cake Tale. The Halfpenny Bridge,

Phoenix Park, Molly Malone to the wonderful painting by Simone Walsh, ‘Croke

Park to the Aviva’.  Simone has now been promoted from ‘simple artist’ to Honouree

Queen Status of the Royal Icing Circle.

Time passed really quickly and soon it was time for the queen to use her magic

powers and create a magical piece of cake. The royal command was issued by Queen

Geraldine of Leixlip and the task to create what we in this land call the ‘Pigeon House

Chimneys.’ Fondly known as the ‘Stacks’ in the land of Dublin.

‘Oh’ said the queen, I love this blue and those chimneys need to be round, so she

used her ever faithful icing gun and piped a line of sugar paste, covered these with

strips of white paste and tucked in the sides. Rolled small strips of red and so it

began….colours mixed to match, potions and motions, a little royal piping with

her No.2 and a dusting of gold lustre dust. With this task completed she set about

making her chocolate cake that soon turned into a ‘wonky cake’, and the queen spent

a very long, long l..o..n..g time fixing this and used many many strange words when

doing this task! She was not alone as Queen Deirdre was also using these strange

words! The lesser queen’s must be careful not to upset the Queen Bee herself, Queen

Niamh of Dublin. She could shout ‘off with her head she’s one mm out’ or, she could

say ‘would you all shag off swine’s’! One could not take the chance!

Soon it all came to pass, the dust settled, the magic of sugar craft has shown it true

colours and a cake of stunning beauty and skill has been created by the Queens from

many other far off lands, including Cork, Galway, Wicklow, even Meath.

Queen Aileen would like to thank the queen bee herself Niamh and all the Queens

and Prince who gave there time to create this stunning work, the result is Magnificent.

Respect to all involve it was a privilege to work with you all.

And they all lived happily ever after.

THE END
