Allow me to introduce ourselves and tell you a little bit about us. We are Cake Queens, the queens of cakes . . okay, mostly we're just a motley collection of cake makers from Ireland who love to create and who love working with other people.
Despite knowing each other for quite a while now we've never worked on anything together. Of course we've worked together on smaller, client based, projects but we've never gotten together on something big. 'This' is our something big.
For the Dublin Night of Culture 2013 I, Niamh Geraghty, was asked to take part in an Edible Art Exhibition. I got terribly excited, as you do, and contacted Geraldine Arnold, my usual partner in crime. We yapped for a while and then got in touch with many more baker, cakers and shakers. Fifty or so to be precise. The precise 50 has changed a bit but that's due to the fact that we're not only just cakers, we're wives, husbands, friends, bankers, doctors, nurses, accountants and a whole host of other things in between, and sometimes life's other needs got in the way of this, our first project.
We are:
Barbara Franzoni
Hannah McMahon
Tara O'Sullivan - she's our gorgeous wild card on this initial project. Not a caker but a lover of caking.
Trish Kelly - The Cupcake Store
Dawn Tolan - Dawn's Custom Cakes
Karen McHugh -
Aisha Ali -
Nadi Wadi -
Caroline Mulhall Granahan -
Karen Smith Jepson -
Sandra Kinnear -
Lynn Smith (sugarcraft tutor)
Susan Moore -
Valerie Dennan Orr -
Emily Cowap -
So, there you go. Us, as we stand right now.
